It isn’t always easy to reach outside of ourselves when we are feeling deeply lonely and experiencing extreme emotions. These are precisely the times, though, when it makes sense to try to find people with whom we can talk/be our true selves without too much fear of judgment or rejection. In my role as a therapist I actively commit to strive to be one of those people; to meet you (and your family) wherever you are emotionally, in a comfortable, confidential and respectful setting.

I have 16 years of experience intentionally meeting and working therapeutically with people from all walks of life. As a multicultural practitioner I am integrally connected to various cultures which enable me to balance multiple perspectives, as I work with different people around a number of diverse and complex issues; although I was educated according to traditional and psychodynamic viewpoints, my practice is to combine my formal training with holistic, trauma and social justice oriented techniques. I am acutely aware of the propensity to pathologize within the field of psychology and mental health. My professional style places greater emphasis on the importance of listening, understanding and responding to people within the context of their own individual experiences and needs than attempting to fit them into neat, diagnostic categories.

During sessions with people, I appeal to the "highest self" while employing a bio-psychosocial-spiritual approach. This includes working intentionally, attentively and intuitively to co-facilitate healing on emotional, mental, physical and spiritual levels, and assisting people to recognize the individual choices they may have available to them in any given situation. I am additionally focused on collaborating with people who wish to self acknowledge and heal the traumas which have impacted them, in part, by providing a safe space in which they might tell their stories, and also by helping them to (re)identify, locate and integrate the (creative) interests they might gravitate towards for growth and healing purposes.

My experience as a holistic therapist has taught me that different people can come to the therapeutic arena with a diverse array of preconceptions pertaining to what “doing therapy” is all about. Some of these preconceptions may, or may not be entirely compatible with the space I am able to provide at this particular time. On this note, my thoughts as a therapist embracing a growth and healing philosophy are that we are likely to be a good fit if you are at a place in your life where you are more in alignment with a desire to progress along your personal growth path in accordance with the willingness to make an effort to engage collaboratively in doing the work to identify and create any necessary changes in your life (even if you are initially confused or fearful about what those changes might be) and less in the mindset that you want to utilize your sessions primarily to “vent”.
